Premier League: January Transfer Window So Far
Here, we take a look at the signings that each Premier League club has made so far in the 2025 January Transfer Window, as of the time of writing.
The 2025 January Transfer Window is well underway, and Premier League clubs have been looking to strengthen their respective squads as they all look to give their chances of realising their objectives for the 2024/25 season a significant boost going into the next few months. Here, we are going to take a look at the signings that have been made by all 20 clubs so far, as of the time of writing.
The January Transfer Window is usually seen as a particularly difficult window for clubs to get their desired transfer business done, but in the past, there have been some very eye catching and high profile transfers that have taken place in January.
We start with Dutch international forward Cody Gakpo, who signed for Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven for a fee between £35 million and £45 million in January 2023. He has proven to be a success for the Reds, as at the time of writing, he has made 110 appearances for the club with no less than 35 goals and 13 assists to his name.
Then there is Brazilian midfielder and current Newcastle United player Bruno Guimaraes, who has been a great success for the Magpies ever since he signed for the club from French club Olympique Lyon for a rumoured transfer fee of an initial £35 million in January 2022. He has since made 134 appearances, scoring 19 goals, whilst making 24 assists to boot.
Other examples include: Bruno Fernandes (Manchester United, January 2020 from Sporting CP), Mykhailo Mudryk (Chelsea, January 2023 from Shakhtar Donetsk), Virgil Van Dijk (Liverpool, January 2018 from Southampton), Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea, January 2023 from Benfica), Fernando Torres (Chelsea, January 2011 from Liverpool), Luis Diaz (Liverpool, January 2022 from FC Porto), and Aymeric Laporte (Manchester City, January 2018 from Athletic Club Bilbao).
Now, let’s move on to the current twenty Premier League Clubs and the transfer business that they have done in this window to date, in alphabetical order – starting with Arsenal, led by their Spanish Head Coach Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal
Arsenal are one of the clubs in the Premier League who are yet to have made a signing over the course of the month of January just yet. There have been a number of players who have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, and this includes Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, Rosenberg’s Sverre Nypan, Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres, RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, and Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.
Aston Villa
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa have been amongst the most active clubs in the Premier League in the 2025 January Transfer Window so far, with two players so far joining the West Midlands Club. The first was Borussia Dortmund forward Donyell Malen, who signed for the Villa from the German Bundesliga Club for a reported transfer fee of £21 million on Tuesday 14th January with the forward looking to add further depth to Villa’s front line.
Malen spent four years with BVB from 2021 to 2025, making no less than 132 appearances in all competitions, scoring a total of 39 goals, whilst also providing a total of 20 assists to boot. Before that at PSV Eindhoven, he scored 55 goals and got 24 assists in just 116 appearances.
The other signing is that of Levante’s Andres Garcia, with the 21 year old Spanish right back signing for the club for a rumoured transfer fee of £7 million. Garcia has recently come to prominence, making 24 appearances in La Liga 2 in 2023/24, scoring 1 goal and getting 3 assists.
He has continued to impress this season, where, before joining Villa, he had made a total of 22 appearances with three goals and three assists to his name in all competitions.
Bournemouth
Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth are one of the surprise packages of the 2024/25 Premier League season so far, as they continue to push for qualification for European Football for next season. So far they have so far made two signings.
The first was Lanus’ Argentinian 19 year old Julio Soler, who joined the Cherries back on 7th January 2025, joining for a rumoured fee of around £6.6 million. In the 2024 season, he had made no less than 42 appearances in all competitions, proving 2 assists in total.
The other player to have joined the South Coast club is American central defender Matai Akinmboni, joining from DC United in the United States’ MLS (Major League Soccer). The 18 year old joined for a reported £810,000, and is a promising player who had so far made 10 senior appearances for the club in the 2024 season in all competitions.
Brentford
Thomas Frank’s Brentford have been amongst the league’s surprise packages so far this season, just like the aforementioned Bournemouth. Whilst they are yet to make a signing, they do look set to sign Fiorentina right back Michael Kayode on loan with an option to buy from the Italian Serie A club this January.
Brighton
Next up is Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton, and they have so far signed one player, which was Paraguayan central midfielder Diego Gomez, who joined the Seagulls on the South Coast from MLS Club Inter Miami for a transfer fee of £11 million on Tuesday 10th December 2024, with the player completing his move at the start of the 2025 January Transfer Window.
Chelsea
Chelsea have been very active in the transfer market over the last few years, and they are looking to push for qualification for the UEFA Champions League next season with a top four finish in the Premier League, and they are amongst the leading contenders to do so.
They are however yet to make a signing this January, but they do look set to sign Strasbourg’s Mamadou Sarr, who’s rumoured £12 million move would take place in the summer. The Blues have also been linked with the likes of Juventus’ Douglas Luiz, Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho, Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens, Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi, and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.
Crystal Palace
Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace will be looking for a mid table or top half finish in the Premier League, come the end of the ongoing 2024/25 season. So far, their only signing of the 2025 January Transfer Window has been that of 19 year old English attacking midfielder Romain Esse, who has signed from fellow London Club Millwall for a transfer fee reported to be worth £12 million to sign him from the Championship club.
So far this season, ahead of his move to the Eagles, Esse had made 26 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and getting 1 assist. 24 of these appearances and 4 of these goals have come in the league, the EFL Championship.
Everton
We now move on to relegation threatened Everton, who are now led by club favourite David Moyes, however they are yet to make a signing in this Winter Transfer Window.
The Toffees have though been linked with a move for the likes of Juventus’ Timothy Weah, Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah, Sporting CP’s Marcus Edwards, and AS Monaco’s Breel Embolo.
Fulham
As for Marco Silva’s Fulham, they too are yet to add to their squad this January, as they also look to potentially see themselves qualify for European Football in some form come the end of the 2024/25 Premier League season.
The Cottagers have been linked with some players, which has included the likes of Coventry City’s Dutch right back Milan van Ewijk and AC Milan’s Emerson Royal.
Ipswich Town
Newly promoted Ipswich Town, who are led by their current Head Coach Kieran McKenna, have signed a great number of players over the course of the 2025 January Transfer Window so far, as of the time of writing.
The Tractor Boys have made two signings – the first was a loan transfer for Atalanta central defender and former Everton and Norwich City player Ben Godfrey, who has joined the club for what is the remainder of the 2024/25 season. Godfrey had not made many appearances for La Dea, so he has found a fresh start at Ipswich Town.
Then there is also Aston Villa forward Jaden Philogene, who joined for a rumoured transfer fee of £20 million, and played a crucial part in the Villans’ 1 – 0 victory over German Giants Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. Last season for Hull City in the Championship, the English forward made a grand total of no less than 32 appearances in the second division of English Football, scoring 12 goals, whilst also providing a total of 6 assists in total overall.
The Tractor Boys have also completed the loan signing of Brighton’s Paraguayan attacking midfielder Julio Enciso for what remains of the 2024/25 season.
Leicester City
Just like Ipswich Town, Leicester City, led by Ruud van Nistelrooy, are also threatened by relegation as a newly promoted side. So far, the Foxes have made just one signing this winter so far in the January transfer window.
The player that they have signed is that of French right back Woyo Coulibaly, who has joined the Midlands Club for a rumoured transfer fee of just £3 million from Italian Serie A club Parma, where he signed a four and half year deal at the club.
Liverpool
Arne Slot’s Liverpool are currently the leading contenders to win the 2024/25 Premier League title, but they are yet to make a single signing in the 2025 January Transfer Window.
The Reds have though been linked with the likes of Lille’s Jonathan David, Lyon’s Rayan Cherki, Feyenoord’s Anis Hadj Moussa, and Nurnberg’s Stefanos Tzimas.
Manchester City
We now move on to title holders Manchester City, and Pep Guardiola’s side will be looking to put together a sensational run of form for what could be a memorable last half of the current 2024/25 Premier League season.
So far, the Cityzens have added three players to their squad. Two of them are centre backs, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov, who joined from Brazilian Club Palmeiras and France’s Lens respectively. Starting with Reis, the Brazilian joined the club for a rumoured transfer fee of £29.5 million, signing a four and a half year contract.
In the 2024 season, he had made 22 senior appearances in all competitions for Palmeiras, scoring 2 goals.
Moving on to Abdukodir Khusanov, he has become the first ever player from Uzbekistan to sign for a Premier League club, joining for a rumoured fee of £33.8 million. In the 2024/25 season to date, the promising central defender has made 16 appearances in all competitions for a side currently sitting as high as 7th place in the French Ligue 1 table overall, with 27 points to their name after exactly 18 matches.
Manchester City’s latest signing is that of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush for a rumoured transfer fee of £59 million, with him signing a four and a half year deal at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday 23rd January 2025. Last season, he scored 17 goals in all competitions, together with a total of 6 assists to boot.
So far this season, he has found the back of the net 20 times in all competitions for Frankfurt before he made the move to City, with the new signing also having 14 assists to boot this term before moving to England and the Premier League.
Manchester United
We now move onto the other side of Manchester, making the trip to the historic Old Trafford, which is the home of Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United. So far, they are yet to make any signings, but the Red Devils have been linked with a number of players in recent times.
These players have all been linked with a move to United: Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu, Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, Benfica’s Alvaro Carreras, and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Turkish Giants Galatasaray for the duration of the 2024/25 season.
Newcastle United
Eddie Howe and Newcastle United have European football targeted and in their sights as an ambition to fulfil come the end of the 2024/25 season. However, so far, they are yet to make a signing so far this January Transfer Window.
So far, the Magpies have been linked with a move for the likes of Lille’s Jonathan David, Juventus’ Douglas Luiz, Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, and Brentford’s Sepp van den Berg.
Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest, led by their Portuguese Head Coach Nuno Espirito, are the standout surprise package of the 2024/25 Premier League season so far, as of the time of writing, with the club currently third and looking good for UEFA Champions League qualification, as of the time of writing.
They will be looking to carry this strong form into the remainder of their current campaign, but they are yet to make signing yet this winter in the 2025 January Transfer Window. They have been linked with the likes of Wolves’ Matheus Cunha and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
Southampton
Relegation threatened Southampton currently find themselves at the bottom of the current Premier League table, and they have been making signings throughout the 2025 January Transfer Window in order to help them in their efforts to avoid the drop come the end of the 2024/25 season.
They have signed Brazilian left back Welington from Sao Paulo on a free transfer, with Danish central midfielder Albert Gronbaek also joining, but on a loan deal for the rest of the season from French Club Stade Rennais. The Saints have also completed deals for 18 year old Japanese forward Rento Takaoka, who joined on a free transfer from Nissho Gakuen, and for Joachim Kayi Sanda, who has joined for a rumoured fee of €5 million from another French Club in the form of Championnat National (French Third Tier) side Valenciennes FC.
Spurs
We now move on to Spurs, who are managed by their Australian Head Coach Ange Postecoglou. As of now, the Lilywhites have completed two signings in the 2025 January Transfer Window.
One is Min-heyok Yang, who has joined from Gangwon FC in South Korea after a deal was agreed for the 18 year old right winger last year. The other player to have joined the North London Club is the 21 year old Czech Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who has joined from Slavia Prague in the Czech Republics’ top flight for a rumoured transfer fee of just £12.5 million. He had kept no less than 12 clean sheets in just 19 games in the league alone so far this season before he joined Tottenham Hotspur in this window.
The Lilywhites have also been linked with the likes of Southampton’s Tyler Dibling, Udinese’s Thomas Kristensen, and PSG’s Milan Škriniar. Although, it looks likely that Škriniar will be joining Turkish Club Fenerbahce.
West Ham United
Moving on to Graham Potter and West Ham United, they have yet to make a single signing in the 2025 January Transfer Window, with the Hammers currently threatened by relegation.
They have though been linked with a move for the likes of OH Leuven’s Ezechiel Banzuzi, Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto, Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, and FC Barcelona’s Ansu Fati. It does though look as if the Hammers are close to completing a deal for Banzuzi at some point in what remains of the current transfer window.
Wolves
Finally, moving on to Wolves, they have made one signing so far in the window in the form of Stade Reims’ 27 year old central defender Emmanuel Agbadou for a rumoured transfer fee of £16.6 million, signing a four and a half year contract with the West Midlands Club.
Wolves have also been linked with moves for Aston Villa’s Diego Carlos (who has joined Fenerbahce), Vitoria SC’s Manu Silva, and Chelsea’s Renato Veiga. However, Silva has since joined fellow Portuguese club Benfica, whilst Veiga has moved on loan to Juventus on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
All eyes will be on all of the Premier League clubs as they all look to get the business that they desire done over the course of what remains of the 2025 January Transfer Window. Any signings could well prove crucial to achieveing any of their respective objectives for the ongoing 2024/25 Premier League season, with most clubs battling on multiple fronts.
