Carlos Alcaraz Withdraws From Wimbledon and Queens

Two-time Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz will miss this year’s tournament due to an ongoing wrist injury.
This isn’t the first tournament that the world number two has missed this season, with the Spaniard withdrawing from last month’s Barcelona Open because of the same injury.
He subsequently pulled out of the French Open, where he is also a two-time defending champion, to recover.
In a statement made on his Instagram Alcaraz said:
“My recovery is going well, and I’m feeling much better, but unfortunately I’m still not ready to compete, which is why I have to withdraw from the grass-court swing at Queen’s and Wimbledon.”
“They are two truly special tournaments for me, and I will miss them a lot.”
“We’ll keep working to come back as soon as possible.”
Carlos Alcaraz arrived at last year’s Wimbledon Championships as the two-time defending champion, but his title defence ended in defeat to rival Jannik Sinner in the final.
Earlier this year, Alcaraz claimed his first Australian Open crown and became the youngest man ever to complete the career Grand Slam.
The Spaniard had hoped to build on that momentum throughout 2026, but he is now set to miss the entire grass court season as well as most of the clay swing.
Alcaraz also surrendered the world number one ranking to Sinner last month and is expected to fall further behind the Italian, who has captured three clay court Masters 1000 titles in the past five weeks.
