Far Above Dream heads 28-strong Stewards’ Cup field at Goodwood
Ante-post favourite Far Above Dream will face 27 rivals after featuring among a maximum field of 28 runners for Saturday’s Coral Stewards’ Cup at Glorious Goodwood.
The James Owen-trained sprinter has been installed as the market leader after an impressive season, with the four-year-old finishing fourth in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot before returning to the track where he remains unbeaten from three starts at Goodwood.
Kieran Shoemark will take the ride aboard Far Above Dream, who heads the betting at 7-1 with bet365 ahead of one of the highlights of the final day of the meeting.
However, one of the leading ante-post contenders, Dance In The Storm, will miss the £250,000 handicap after failing to make the cut. Saffie Osborne’s mount Toca Madera secured the final place in the field and will now take his chance on Saturday.
The race will see the return of the last two Stewards’ Cup winners, with Two Tribes and Get It both bidding to add another victory to their records. Richard Spencer will be represented by both Two Tribes and stablemates Run Boy Run and Candy.
Five apprentices have been booked for the prestigious sprint handicap, including Mason Paetel, who takes a 5lb claim from topweight Soldier’s Tree, another runner from the James Owen yard.
Recent form figures prominently in the field, with Sondad arriving after landing the Scurry Handicap at the Curragh. The Mick and David Easterby-trained sprinter will carry a 6lb penalty for that success as he looks to continue his excellent run of form.
Stratusnine also arrives in winning form after claiming the Sky Bet Dash at York last weekend, while Dubai Bling and King Of Light carry the same penalty following recent victories. Dubai Bling will be partnered by William Buick after scoring on Summer Mile day at Ascot earlier this month.
Ryan Moore retains the ride on Completely Random, trained by Harry Charlton, after the pair finished second in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot. The combination failed to fire in the International Handicap at Ascot last Saturday but will bid for a return to form at Goodwood.
Moore’s son Toby is also booked for the race, claiming 7lb aboard Hammer The Hammer.
