The Autumn Nations Series will make its long-awaited return in November 2025, with England set to participate once more. Their opponents and the dates for these matches are yet to be revealed, but this page will be updated when these details have been officially announced.

What is certain is that Steve Borthwick’s side will be going face to face with other heavyweights of international rugby at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham.

In the most recent Autumn Nations Series, held in November 2024, England faced high-calibre opponents like New Zealand, Australia, reigning World Champions South Africa, and Japan over the course of four weeks of enthralling action.

England opened their 2024 Autumn Internationals campaign with a narrow and unlucky 22 – 24 defeat against New Zealand. Unfortunately, a last-minute penalty miss from George Ford cost the hosts victory on that day.

Another close and competitive defeat followed when they were beaten 37 – 42 against Australia, where England was also close to securing a positive result. Next up was South Africa, with the Springboks unfortunately coming out on top as 20 – 29 winners.

In England’s fourth and final Autumn Nations Series fixture of 2024 against Japan at Twickenham, Steve Borthwick and his team were able to come away as emphatic 59 – 14 winners on that spectacular afternoon.

The eighty minutes saw the likes of Ben Earl, Sam Underhill, Jamie George (2), Ollie Sleightholme, George Furbank, Luke Cowan-Dickie (2), and Tom Roebuck all get tries for their country, whilst Marcus Smith was also in-form in this game, with the fly-half securing no less than 7 conversions for his team.

England have enjoyed a number of memorable moments in the Autumn Internationals over the years. One such moment came back in 2012, when they came away with a historic and sensational win against the mighty New Zealand, beating the All Blacks 38 – 21 at Twickenham in what went on to be their sole defeat of that calendar year.

The hosts were able to score some sensational tries from the likes of Chris Ashton, Brad Barritt, and Manu Tuilagi, whilst Owen Farrell scored 4 penalties, a drop goal, as well as a conversion. Freddie Burns also scored 2 penalties himself.

Another very memorable game involving England in the Autumn Internationals took place back in 2018 against South Africa. It was an enthralling contest that saw Owen Farrell ultimately secure the 12 – 11 win for the hosts thanks to a last minute penalty in the latter stages of this contest at Twickenham.

This was Farrell’s third successful penalty of the game, whilst Elliot Daly was also on hand to score a penalty of his own that day. Farrell also got three tries, whilst Daly got one himself against the Springboks.
