2024 Autumn Nations Series: Games to watch

Excitement and anticipation are building for the start of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series this weekend, and there are some titanic clashes to come.

The 2024 Autumn Nations Series is almost here, with the much anticipate games involving some of the best international teams and players in the world going head to head across the continent of Europe from Saturday 2nd November to Saturday 30th November 2024.

England and New Zealand will face off at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham in a high profile opening day encounter, where Steve Borthwick’s side will be seeking a first victory against the All Blacks since they met in the 2019 World Cup Final, which England won 19 – 7.

Here, in no particular order, we are going to take a look ahead at some of the high profile clashes to come over the course of the next few weeks.

England vs. South Africa (Allianz Stadium, Twickenham)

We start with England against South Africa, with this titanic clash seeing Steve Borthwick’s side take won the reigning World Champions at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday 16th November 2024. The game will be getting underway at 17:40pm that evening.

The most recent encounter between these two teams took place at the 2023 Rugby World Cup at the Stade de France in Paris, France on 21st October 2023. It was a narrow 15 – 16 defeat for England in the French Capital that day.

As for England’s most recent triumph against the Springboks, this took place at the iconic Twickenham during the 2021 Autumn Nations Series on 20th November 2021. It was an enthralling contest that saw the hosts come away as 27 – 26 winners in the English Capital.

Ireland vs. New Zealand (Aviva Stadium, Dublin)

Up next on this list is a crucial clash between two of the giants of international rugby – Ireland and New Zealand. The sides, ranked 1st and 3rd in the world respectively as of the time of writing, will be going head to head at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on Friday 8th November 2024. The game gets underway at 20:10pm.

The most recent game between these two teams was at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where a 78,845 strong crowd witnessed a 24 – 28 win for the All Blacks at the Stade de France in the French Capital, Paris, back on 14th October 2023.

Ireland last beat New Zealand on their 2022 Tour of New Zealand, beating the All Blacks 22 – 32 in front of a 38,000 strong crowd at the Wellington Regional Stadium in Wellington on 16th July 2022.

Scotland vs. South Africa (Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh)

Gregor Townsend’s Scotland will go head to head with South Africa at Murrayfield in the City of Edinburgh in their second game of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series. It is a game that sees the hosts, currently sat at 7th in the World Rankings go up against a side who are 2nd in the World as of the time of writing.

This game will be taking place on Sunday 10th November 2024, with the action getting underway that afternoon at 16:10pm.

The most recent competitive encounter between Scotland and South Africa was back on 10th September 2023 at the Stade Velodrome, Marseille, in France.

Scotland will be looking for their first win in all competitions against the Springboks since beating them 21 – 17 at Murrayfield as part of the 2010 Autumn Nations Series on 20th November 2010.

England vs. Australia (Allianz Stadium, Twickenham)

Joe Schmidt’s Australia will be the second opponents of the 2024 Autumn Nations Series for Steve Borthwick and England, with the two heavyweights of international rugby going toe to toe with each other at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday 9th November 2024. The game kicks-off that afternoon at 15:10pm.

The two team are presently ranked at 5th and 10th in the world as things stand, having last met in a competitive fixture back on 16th July 2022 when England were on tour in Australia. The game took place at the 48,000 capacity Sydney Cricket Ground, where the hosts were beaten 17 – 21 by England that day.

France vs. New Zealand (Stade de France, Paris)

Finally, we move on to France’s game against New Zealand at the iconic Stade de France in the picturesque city of Paris. It is taking place on Saturday 16th November 2024, with the game getting underway in the French Capital at 20:10pm (UK Time) that night.

France and New Zealand are two nations firmly sat within the top ten in the Rugby World Rankings, sat in 4th and 3rd respectively. This promises to be a titanic battle, with their last encounter taking place at the 2023 Rugby World Cup at the Stade de France, where the hosts France were 27 – 13 winners on 8th September 2023.
