First opening in 1845, the Oval, known as the KIA Oval for sponsorship reasons has been hosting cricket matches for 180 years. The first England Test Match to be hosted there took place from 6^th to 8^th September 1880 when Australia were the opponents. England were able to emerge as winners by a margin of five wickets. William Gilbert Grace scored 152 runs in this game, becoming the first ever centurion for England as a result.

Fast forward to the present day, and the KIA Oval has hosted a plethora of cricket fixtures involving England over the years since 1880. The most recent were England’s One Day International contest against the West Indies on Tuesday 3^rd June 2025, as well as a Rothesay Test Match Series against fierce rivals India.

Starting with the ODI against the West Indies, it was the third One Day International of the Series that took place at the Oval, and it saw hosts England able to emerge as winners by a margin of 7 wickets with as many as 62 balls remaining. This completed what was a 3 – 0 ODI Series victory for England.

England then faced India in the final Test of the five game series from 31^st July to 4^th August 2025, and unfortunately for the hosts, their rivals were able to win by 6 runs which meant that the latest Test Match Series between them would be ending in a 2 – 2 draw.
