Sunderland Make Arsenal Work At The Stadium Of Light

Mikel Arteta’s side arrived on Wearside having already beaten Coventry City, Aston Villa and Chelsea in the Premier League, but Sunderland provided one of their toughest tests of the campaign so far.

Sunderland continued to push for an equaliser and forced Raya into another important intervention late on, with the Arsenal goalkeeper denying Nordi Mukiele from close range.

Arsenal eventually put the contest beyond doubt in stoppage time. Saka raced through towards goal before being brought down by Reinildo Mandava, who received his second yellow card of the evening.
