Arsenal will face London rivals Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of this season’s Carabao Cup, with ties to be played the week commencing 15th December 2025.
Arsenal, who are led by their Spanish Head Coach Mikel Arteta, will be going toe to toe with Oliver Glasner’s Crystal Palace side in the quarter-finals of the 2025/26 Carabao Cup at the iconic Emirates Stadium in North London. The Gunners will be looking to get the better of the Eagles as they look to take yet another step closer to the Final.
If Arteta’s side does go on to win this season’s competition, then it would be the third time that the Gunners have done so, so far in their illustrious history. For their maiden victory in this competition’s final, you rewind back to 1987, where they faced fellow English heavyweights Liverpool, whom they were able to beat 2 – 1 in a competitive game. It was a brace from Charlie Nicholas that secured the triumph for Arsenal on that occasion at Wembley.
Their second, and most recent, success in this competition came in 1993 at Wembley, against Sheffield Wednesday. The Owls were beaten 2 – 1 by their North London counterparts, with Arsenal scoring their goals through the likes of Paul Merson (20’) and Steve Morrow (68’), whilst Wednesday scored their sole goal of the game through John Harkes (8’), who did actually initially give the Yorkshire side the lead in the English Capital.
Arsenal’s latest League Cup campaign this season began with a trip to Vale Park to face League One side Port Vale, led by former West Brom boss Darren Moore. It was a third-round tie that saw Arteta and his team emerge with what was a comfortable 2 – 0 victory, thanks to goals from the likes of summer signing Eberechi Eze (8’) and Belgian international forward Leandro Trossard (86’).
Next up was fellow Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion, led by German Head Coach Fabian Hürzeler in the Fourth Round, this time at the aforementioned Emirates Stadium. In the end, it was another 2 – 0 win, with the goals this time being scored by Ethan Nwaneri (57’) and Bukayo Saka (76’) in the second half. It was also a game that saw Max Dowman, at the age of just 15 years and 302 days, become the youngest player ever to start a competitive match for Arsenal. There was also a first-ever senior start for 17-year-old forward Andre Harriman-Annous.
Moving on to Crystal Palace, they have never won this famous trophy, though they did defeat Manchester City 1 – 0 to win the 2025 FA Cup, which was their first-ever major trophy. They, like Arsenal, will be looking to add further silverware to their respective trophy cabinets this season.
The Eagles began their 2025/26 Carabao Cup campaign in the third round of the competition against EFL Championship side Millwall at the famous Selhurst Park back in September 2025. In the end, Glasner’s side secured a 4 – 2 victory on penalties.
The game had ended 1 – 1 following goals from Chris Richards (72’) for the hosts and Ryan Leonard for the visiting Lions in second-half stoppage time (90+1’).
This was followed by a tough clash with Liverpool at Anfield in the Fourth Round. It was a comfortable night for Palace in the end, who were able to go on and win 3 – 0 on Merseyside thanks to the goals from the likes of Ismaila Sarr (41’, 45’) and Yeremy Pino (88’).
Arsenal and Crystal Palace have faced each other a total of five times in this competition, most recently in the quarter-finals of the 2024/25 competition on 18th December 2024. It was a game that took place at the Emirates Stadium, where they won 3 – 0 through a hat-trick from Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus, with all of his goals coming in the second half (54’, 73’, 81’).
All eyes will be on who will be victorious in this quarter-final tie in the 2025/26 Carabao Cup at the aforementioned Emirates Stadium, with the Gunners looking to win some more silverware this season.
