The first ever encounter between these two sides came at the end of the 20th Century back on 12th October 1994 in a Qualification match ahead of the following year’s Rugby World Cup – it was a comfortable and deserved 29 – 19 win for Wales on this occasion.

Wales’ most emphatic triumph over Italy came back on 19th March 2016 in what was that year’s Guinness Six Nations Championship. This game, which took place at the Principality Stadium, saw the hosts Wales come away with what was a sensational and historic 67 – 14 win, which saw the margin between the two teams by the end of this game stand at no less than 53.

Italy beat Wales 22 – 15 in their most recent competitive encounter at the 2025 Six Nations Championship at the famous Stadio Olimpico in Rome, Italy on 8th February of that year.

When it comes to Wales’ most recent win against Italy, this was in a game played during the 2023 edition of the Guinness Six Nations Championship on 11th March of that year, and it was a game that also took place at the Stadio Olimpico. It was a comfortable 17 – 29 win for the visitors on that occasion, and Wales will be looking to repeat this feat at the Principality Stadium during the 2026 Guinness Six Nations Championship in March 2026.
