Robert MacIntyre Returns to Genesis Scottish Open 2026

Robert MacIntyre will return to the Genesis Scottish Open in 2026 with history firmly in his sights, as the home favourite looks to add a second national open title to his growing list of achievements.

A Home Favourite Chasing History

The Scotsman produced one of the most memorable moments in recent tournament history when he claimed victory in 2024 at The Renaissance Club. A dramatic birdie on the final hole secured his maiden Rolex Series title and saw him become the first Scot since Colin Montgomerie in 1999 to lift the famous quaich. Backed by a passionate home crowd, it was a defining moment in his career and one he now has the chance to build upon.

MacIntyre has continued his upward trajectory since that breakthrough success. The World Number 12 added another victory on home soil at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in 2025 and played a key role in Team Europe’s Ryder Cup triumph alongside players such as Rory McIlroy. His form has carried into the 2026 season, with strong performances on the PGA TOUR including a runner up finish at the Valero Texas Open and top finishes at the Sony Open in Hawaii and The Players Championship.

A World Class Field Returns

The 2026 edition is expected to deliver another elite field as the tournament continues to play a key role in the Race to Dubai. Defending champion Chris Gotterup is set to return after securing his maiden Scottish Open title in 2025 with an impressive 15 under par total. He held off strong competition from McIlroy and Marco Penge, who both finished at 13 under in a tightly contested leaderboard.

Recent editions have consistently attracted many of the biggest names in the sport. Players such as Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Justin Thomas and Viktor Hovland have all featured, underlining the strength and depth of the field. With eight of the world’s top ten competing in 2025, expectations are high for another star-studded line up in 2026.
