2025 Royal Ascot Trials Day: Preview

At Eventmasters, we are delighted to be this year’s sponsors of the prestigious Royal Ascot Trials Day, and here we take a look ahead at the action to come on Wednesday afternoon.

Here at Eventmasters Corporate Hospitality we are celebrating 40 year anniversary, and we are honoured to be the sponsors of this year’s highly prestigious Royal Ascot Trials Day at the iconic and historic Ascot Racecourse on the afternoon of Wednesday 30th April 2025.

A total of seven races will be taking place across the day, which are as follows: The Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial EBF Conditions Stakes (13:10), The Eventmasters.co.uk Paradise Stakes (13:40), The Longines Sagaro Stakes (14:15), The Eventmasters.co.uk Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes (14:50), The Eventmasters.co.uk 40th Anniversary Handicap Stakes (15:23), The Darley British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (15:55), and finally the Eventmasters.co.uk Manny Mercer Apprentice Handicap Stakes (16:30).

There is one race that has produced no less than three ex-Royal Ascot Gold Cup winners, and that is the Sagaro Stakes with the three previous winners from this race being Colour Vision, Estimate, and finally Stradivarius. Colour Vision’s win came in 2012 with Frankie Dettori on board as the jockey.

As for Estimate, Ryan Moore rode the Royal Horse to glory back in 2013 to make Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II the first reigning British Monarch to have ever won the highly prestigious and famous Royal Ascot Gold Cup. Finally, Stradivarius is a prolific winner of the Royal Ascot Gold Cup, having done so on no less than three occasions, doing so in consecutive years from 2018 to 2020.

The only horse to have won the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot over the years than Stradivarius is Yeats with an incredible total of four wins, doing so in consecutive years, tasting glory in 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009.

Here, we are going to be taking a look ahead to all of these seven races ahead of the action on the 2025 edition of the highly coveted Royal Ascot Trials Day.

The Royal Ascot Two-Year-Old Trial EBF Conditions Stakes (13:10)

We begin with the race that will be getting the action underway for this year’s Ascot Trials Day, which is to be the 2025 Two-Year-Old Trial EBF Conditions Stakes that is taking place early on in the afternoon at ten past one.

The most recent winner of this race is Enchanting Express who won it back in May 2024. David Egan was the winning jockey, and Dominic Ffrench Davis was the victorious trainer on that day. Rock Hunter and Sex On Fire filled the other two spots in the top three, coming in 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

The horses taking part in the 2025 race are as follows: Wise Approach, Dickensian, Credit Forgedd It, Siren Suit, Tadej, Super Soldier, Goldwork, Inca Heights, Angel Of Anfield, Espona Bay, Dublin Bay, Chale Chalo, and finally Wild Thoughts.

Eventmasters.co.uk Paradise Stakes (13:40)

As part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we are delighted to be sponsoring this year’s Royal Ascot Trials Day, and the second race of the day is called the Eventmasters.co.uk Paradise Stakes, which is set to get underway at 13:40 on Wednesday afternoon.

Back in 2024, William Buick, onboard Quddwah, became the latest winner of the Paradise Stakes, with the Simon & Ed Crisford trained horse finishing ahead of the likes of runner-up Docklands, as well as the pre-race favourite that year – Maljoom.

The field of horses taking part in the 2025 eventmasters.co.uk Paradise Stakes are: Docklands, Sardinian Warrior, Unquestionable, Harper’s Ferry, Witch Hunter, Phantom Flight, Royal Dubai, Checkandchallenge, Tyrrhenian Sea, Meydaan, and finally Sir Busker.

Longines Sagaro Stakes (14:15)

Then comes the famous Sagaro Stakes, the race that has produced several Ascot Gold Cup winners at the highly prestigious Royal Ascot over the years. Perhaps another Gold Cup winner will emerge from the field for the Longines Sagaro Stakes at Trials Day on the afternoon of Wednesday 30th April 2025.

Back in 2024, it was Coltrane, ridden by jockey Oisin Murphy who successfully came out on top as the winner of the most recent running of this race. It was Caius Chorister who came home as the runner-up in second place, whilst it was the pre-race favourite Sweet William who came in third place in the end overall.

The reigning Champion of this race has the chance to repeat this feat in 2025, and the Andrew Balding trained horse will be competing with the likes of Divine Comedy, Feigning Madness, and Yashin for victory.

Eventmasters.co.uk Commonwealth Cup Trials Stakes (14:50)

Next up is the fourth race of the day, which is called the Eventmasters.co.uk Commonwealth Cup Trials Stakes at 14:50 in the afternoon.

Last year, it was Josour, ridden by Jockey Jim Crowley and trained by Clive Cox who came out of the race as the winners, beating pre-race favourite Adaay In Devon and Puosangue, who finished just behind Josour in second and third place respectively.

The field for this year’s race is as follows: Rebel’s Gamble, Big Mojo, Electrolyte, Hallasan, Arabie, Dash Dizzy, Diablo Rojo, Ain’t Nobody, Brian, and Candy.

Eventmasters.co.uk 40th Anniversary Handicap (15:23)

Rewinding to last year’s iteration of this race, it was a victory for jockey Oliver Searle and Trainer Rod Millman, with it being the pre-race favourite Woolhampton, finishing just ahead of runner-up Buccabay and Glamorous Breeze, who successfully rounded off the top three in third place in the end.

The field for this year’s race will be as follows: Duran, Fletcher’s Flight, Blue Day, Isle Of Lismore, Jenever, Zoulu Chief, Good Earth, Rebel Empire, and Blind Beggar.

Darley British EBF Fillies’ Novices’ Stakes (15:55)

The penultimate race of the day is going to be the 2025 edition of the Darley British EBF Fillies’ Novices’ Stakes at the incredible Ascot Racecourse on this year’s highly prestigious Royal Ascot Trials Day. This race will be taking place from 15:55 in the afternoon on Wednesday.

This race was of course most recently run back in May 2024, and it was Diamond Rain who on this occasion came out on top as the most recent winner of this particular race at Ascot. It was the pre-race favourite Shaha who had to settle for a second place finish, whilst Chorus came in third place overall in the end.

The field for this particular race is as follows: Gulya, Victory Queen, Breckenbrough, Purple Rainbow, Chinkara, and finally Princess Royal.

Eventmasters.co.uk Manny Mercer Apprentice Handicap (16:30)

The seventh and final race to be taking place at the iconic Ascot Racecourse will be the Eventmasters.co.uk Manny Mercer Apprentice Handicap, which is going to be getting underway at 16:30 on Wednesday afternoon to round off the enthralling action for yet another Royal Ascot Trials Day.

The winner of this race at Ascot last year was the pre-race favourite for 2024 Two Tempting, with the Jonathan Portman trained horse being ridden to victory by Jockey Olivia Tubb. It was Roarin’ Success who came in second place, with One Step Beyond finishing just behind the runner-up in third place to round off the top three in this race in the end.

Excitement is building rapidly ahead of the action that is set to get underway in the 2025 Royal Ascot Trials Day at the legendary Ascot Racecourse on Wednesday afternoon. At Eventmasters, we are delighted to be the sponsors of this year’s Trials Day.

All eyes will be on the action out on the track as we get some clues as to which horses may emerge as winners at the upcoming main event – Royal Ascot – which takes place over five days, from Tuesday 17th June to Saturday 21st June 2025.
