Where is Ascot Racecourse?

Ascot Racecourse, best known for the Royal Ascot is situated in Ascot, Berkshire adjacent to the astounding beauty that is Windsor Great Park.

The prestigious course which is near to the M3, M4 and M25 motorways retains a major name in the sporting world due to its close ties with the Royal Family. It was founded by Queen Anne in 1711 and eleven monarchs have received patronage of it since.

Whether attending Royal Ascot or other major race days at Ascot by car, train, bus or plane – Ascot Racecourse is easy to access for all racegoers.

How to get to Ascot from London

Ascot Racecourse is approximately a 50-minute drive or train journey from London.

If travelling by car, follow the A4 and M4 then merge onto the M25. At junction 13 take the exit for the A30 and follow signs to Ascot.

Alternatively, on the M4 take the exit at Junction 6 onto the A332 Windsor by-pass.

South Western Railway run frequent services to Ascot via London Waterloo, Guildford and Reading. Trains from London Waterloo depart regularly to Ascot (BERKS) station, which is a 10-minute walk from the Racecourse.

How to get to Ascot Racecourse by Car

When using a Sat Nav for your journey, the postcode is SL5 7LX for Ascot Racecourse.

Directions from The Midlands

Take M42 and M40 to A404 in High Wycombe. Take exit 4 from M40 and continue to Windsor and Maidenhead. On Windsor Road follow the A332 Windsor by-pass to Ascot Racecourse.

Directions from The North

From the North West take the M6, M42 and M40 to Windsor Road and follow signs to Ascot. From the North, the M1 and M25 or M40 are the fastest routes to Ascot Racecourse.

Directions from The West

Take the M4 to Junction 10, exiting at Berkshire Way/A329 and then continue to follow signs to Ascot.

Directions from the South & East

Follow the M3 to A322 in Bagshot. Take exit 3 from M3, follow A322 to High St and follow signs for Ascot Racecourse.

How to get to Ascot Racecourse by Rail

South Western Railway runs services to Ascot station for the South of England. If travelling via train in the North, East or West, mainline trains will need to be used to travel into London Waterloo first.

If travelling from the Midlands, Reading is the recommended stop before transferring onto the South Western Rail network.

Where are the Taxi Drop-Off Points?

All Royal Enclosure guests should be dropped off at Car Park 3.

Queen Anne Enclosure guests travelling from the South should be dropped off at Car Park 3 but Queen Anne Enclosure ticket holders visiting from the West, North and East should be dropped off at Car Park 6.

Windsor Enclosure guests will also need to be dropped off at Car Park 6 and Village Enclosure guests at the Heath.

Ascot Cars are a popular taxi rank operating in Ascot and are based at Ascot train station if you need to ensure a speedy service to your day at the races.

Parking at Ascot

If you are attending Royal Ascot and you have a designated car parking permit, these will be colour coded to outline which car park is reserved for you.

Car parking is cheaper to buy in advance but is also available to purchase on the day at an increased price. Please note all on the day car parking must be paid by cash.

Coach Drivers

Coach drivers will be able to acquire a free Heath Enclosure admission ticket, which is located in the centre of the racecourse and reserved for pass-holders if they produce a valid PCV or PSV licence and work docket in any Ticket Office.

Private Jet Charter by Victor, who’ll be servicing guests in 2022 is able to fly directly from anywhere in the world to private airport terminals at Biggin Hill, Farnborough, Luton, Oxford or Blackbush. From these airports, a designated helicopter will be awaiting your arrival to transfer you to the racecourse.
