📐 Design & Architecture
Originally constructed for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, the stadium was designed by Arup Associates and built by Laing Construction at a cost of £112 million. Post-Games, it was converted into a football stadium with an additional £42 million investment from Manchester City and the city council. The stadium features a distinctive cable-stayed roof supported by twelve exterior masts and cables, earning it accolades for its innovative design
